Amsterdam by Bike LEKKER

For anyone that knows me, you know that I need warm, sunny weather.  Or so I thought.  After our last 2 week stint in Amsterdam, I realized that I could actually live somewhere that has shit weather due to all of the other things the city has to offer.  Amsterdam's weather is equivalent to Seattle's: rain, clouds, blah, oh yeah, and a couple amazing days.

We arrived to Amsterdam after Paris via a 3 hour speed train.  The first night back we of course met our friends out, met some new friends and had a great time as usual.  Dutchies could be the best people in the world.  They're very genuine, friendly and a ton of fun....and on average about 9 feet tall.  We met and made friends with so many great people there in the short amount of time we stayed.  This time in Amsterdam, we used our bikes to get around everywhere which made the experience so great.  We were dog-sitting Koda while Jim was back in the states so we were staying out in Amstelveen.  Anyone that has been to Amsterdam, knows that the main means of transport is by bike.  We were about a 20 minute bike ride out of the city and it was so refreshing to ride into the city.  There's something about being on the bike, in the sun, rain, wind that is very relaxing.  It's easier to explain our last weeks there by pictures, so here it goes:

Who knew there was such a nice beach 45 minutes outside of Amsterdam?!  Robert, Jarno and Remko took us to the beach one day and it was great...This is not typical Dutch weather by the way and the water was warmer than California water.

Below are all pictures from Amsterdam Pride.  Unlike US prides, this is more of city party rather than a "let's get as much attention as possible and set back gay rights 100 years."  Families and people of all ages attend it in Amsterdam and it was seriously one of the best events I've been to.
The parade is obviously on the canals which makes the spectacle even greater.

This is Aaron's friend, Ryan, who he has known for quite some time. This photo was from "skinny bridge" where we watched the parade from.

Skinny Bridge, packed full.

A couple of the girls we met at pride, Seta & Hoda!

Christian, one of the great people I was fortunate enough to become friends with in the short amount of time in AMS.

Vondelparking

Bike riding beautiful Vondelpark.

More Vondelpark greatness.

You have to take at least 1 photo of an old windmill when in Holland.

Jarno and Robert took us out on there boat once again and it was once again spectacular.  There's something about being on the boat, cruising the canals.  Only thing missing, Pooks!

Biking to AMS

This is Koda for those of you who don't know him.
Likes: eating his feet, butter chicken, shedding, scrambled eggs
Dislikes: walks, Indians, vacuums

Jarno!

Remko & Jarno

Last nigh in Amsterdam :( Remko, Robert & Jarno, the best Dutchies around! Thanks for everything while we were there.

This is a photo from the canal parade during Pride.

Amsterdam, I will be back.  Thanks to everyone who made our experience the best.
